Their first pet
He kept his promise and bought them a fish bowl each and 3 small fishes last Saturday. The big one is for Dawn, and the two smaller ones are for Seer.
They are so excited having their own pet (they wanted a dog or a cat initially, but I protested since no one is at home except night time), even though I will be the one taking care of the fishes for them, I’m so delighted to know that they are so happy with it.
Last night, they even played music to the fish, and happily observed the movement of those fishes. They told me, the fish is singing with the rhythm. It is actually the fish breathing movement using their mouth. And they sing together with those fish.
The water is getting a little bit cloudy on the second day, they asked me to change the water but I insisted on following instructions. Their father said we’ll only need to change the water once a week.
When I came home in the afternoon the next day, I saw one of Seer’s fish is already dead! Not so surprise as I predicted this will happen coming from a first timer fish rearer. At least he still have one fish, and Dawn’s fish is still alive too.
The worst part came when I step out from bath room to check the fishes for the second time before I go to pick them up. Dawn’s fish which was still alive 10 minutes earlier, now died too! Now I’m thinking how to tell them the bad news.
Dawn was very upset when she looked at her dead fish. She was so discouraged that she vowed never to rear a fish again. By now I am feeling a little guilt and regret. I do not understand why I was so stubborn not to change the water for them eventhough I’ve seen the water started to cloud up the fish bowl.
